Maruf Abdullahi, also known as Trinity Guy, a skit creator, was ordered to remain in the Agodi correctional facility on Monday by a Family Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, due to allegations that he sexually exploited a 10-year-old girl.
Along with the creator of the skit, Isiaka Ahmed, 40, and his wife Rofiat, 29, who are the victim’s parents, were also charged in court on two counts of conspiracy and sexual abuse and exploitation.
The case file had been submitted and duplicated at the Oyo State Ministry of Justice, according to the magistrate, Mrs. P.O. Adetuyibi, who rejected the defendant’s argument that there was no jurisdiction.
The three defendants were remanded by Adetuyibi in the Agodi Correctional Facility in Ibadan until July 11, when the case will be mentioned in court.
Mr. Oludare Adebayo, the defense attorney, claimed that Section 41 gave the court the right to hear the case.
The magistrate acknowledged that the case file had been duplicated but noted that she couldn’t hear the case until the Ministry of Justice agreed to drop it.
Earlier, Insp. Oluwakemi Arowosaye, the prosecution’s attorney, had informed the court that the three criminals had planned to sexually assault the girl jointly.
Arowosaye said that on December 17, 2022, “Trinity” sexually assaulted and exploited the girl in the Kuolaa neighborhood of Ibadan.
She claimed that Abdullahi had been filming the incident while asking the victim about the color of his penis after which he released the footage online.
She also claims that the offenses violate Section 35 (1) of the Oyo State Child Rights Law from 2006 and are punished by Section 35 (2).
According to Arowosaye, the offenses also violated Section 516 of the Oyo State Criminal Code Laws of 2000.
The 2006 Child Rights Law, however, stipulates that if the skit creator is found guilty of the crime, he faces a 15-year prison sentence.
