The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled Stella Oduah’s trial, along with eight other defendants, for October 17th in connection with an allegation of money laundering and maintaining secret bank accounts.
As the other eight defendants entered not guilty pleas to the 25-count charge brought against them for their alleged involvement in the alleged laundering of funds totaling N5 billion Naira, the trial judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, set the date.
Justice Ekwo revealed on the last adjourned date that some unidentified persons were invading his privacy by sending him death threats via text messages. He has asked the office of the Attorney General of the Federation to take over the prosecution and ordered the EFCC to hand over the case file.
And when he asked the EFCC counsel, Offem Uket, for a status report on a request for an investigation into who made the threats, the lawyer responded that there was none at the time.
