The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has issued a fresh warning to the public, cautioning against individuals and organizations falsely claiming to represent the state-owned oil firm.
In a statement released on Monday by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, NNPCL emphasized that it does not authorize any third parties to solicit funds or arrange meetings on its behalf.
“The general public is advised to beware of individuals and companies falsely claiming to represent NNPC Limited,” the statement read. “Their tactics include soliciting fees for meetings with the NNPC board of directors, executives, and management staff. These actions are unauthorized and illegal.”
The company specifically warned foreign investors and international business entities to remain vigilant, urging anyone approached by such impostors to immediately report the incident to the relevant authorities.
NNPCL reiterated that all legitimate engagements with the company must be conducted strictly through its official communication channels and business units.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and integrity, the company called on stakeholders to stay alert and help prevent fraudulent activities.
“Let’s work together to prevent scams. Stay alert and share this notice,” the statement concluded.
