The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, to N955 per litre across its retail outlets in parts of the country.
Checks by Daily Post on Monday revealed that NNPCL filling stations in Abuja, particularly those along Kubwa Expressway, Wuse, and other key locations, have adjusted their pump prices from N890 to N955 per litre — a N65 increase.
Similar adjustments have been observed in Kogi and Nasarawa States, signaling a broader implementation of the new pricing regime across the North Central region.
This latest price hike follows the move by independent petroleum marketers in Abuja over the weekend, who raised petrol prices to between N950 and N971 per litre. Their action came in response to an upward review in the ex-depot price of petrol by Dangote Refinery, which now sells at N858 per litre, up from the previous N820.
As the cost of petrol continues to soar, Nigerians are bracing for the ripple effects on transportation, goods, and services, while calls for regulatory intervention grow louder.
