Dangote Refinery Expands Operations with Massive Crude Oil Delivery and Jet Fuel Exports

0

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has received 146,000 metric tonnes of crude oil from the international market, as the vessel Hercules continues discharging its cargo. This marks another significant step in the operational ramp-up of the 650,000 barrels-per-day Lagos-based mega refinery.

According to Vanguard sources, another shipment—125,000 metric tonnes of crude—is en route aboard the vessel Sienna, further bolstering feedstock supply for refining operations.

In a related development, the refinery has commenced large-scale exports of jet fuel, with three vessels — Microft, STI Mighty, and PS New Orleans — arriving to lift 10,000, 44,000, and 44,000 metric tonnes of jet fuel respectively, signaling the refinery’s growing footprint in the global energy market.

Tanker movements also indicate ongoing discharges of imported Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel by operators such as Aiteo, A.A Rano, Obat, Pinnacle, MENJ, and Rainoil, reflecting the broader activities within Nigeria’s deregulated downstream oil sector.

Olatide Jeremiah, CEO of Petroleum Price NG, attributed the vibrant market activity to ongoing deregulation, noting that the increased competition is leading to better outcomes for Nigerian consumers.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals (DPRP) have reaffirmed their commitment to strategic collaboration. Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, emphasized their partnership, stating, “There is no competition between us… NNPC is part and parcel of our business, and we are also part of NNPC.”

This renewed alliance underscores a shared vision for energy security and economic growth in Nigeria.
