Despite ongoing volatility in global crude oil prices, Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has announced a consistent reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.

In a statement signed by its Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the company emphasized that the move to maintain price stability reflects its steadfast commitment to bolstering the Nigerian economy and easing the financial burden on citizens.

“Dangote Refinery is dedicated to delivering affordable, high-quality petroleum products without compromising on operational efficiency and environmental sustainability,” the statement read.

The company noted that its pricing strategy is aligned with the Federal Government’s Nigeria First policy, which prioritizes locally-produced goods and services. By refining petroleum products domestically at its world-class, 650,000 barrels per day single-train facility—the largest of its kind globally—Dangote says it is making a significant impact on Nigeria’s energy security, foreign exchange savings, and economic resilience.

The company also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the implementation of the Naira-for-Crude Initiative, which has enabled local refiners to access crude oil in local currency. This, Dangote said, has been pivotal in enabling it to consistently cut down the cost of petrol.

“We remain committed to ensuring that the full benefits of our local refining capacity are felt across Nigeria. Affordability, quality, and national interest will always be at the heart of our operations,” the statement added.

In a show of operational momentum, Dangote Refinery recently took delivery of 146,000 metric tonnes of crude oil via the vessel Hercules, which is currently discharging its cargo. Another vessel, Sienna, is expected to arrive soon with an additional 125,000 metric tonnes of crude.

Meanwhile, in a related development, three vessels—Microft, STI Mighty, and PS New Orleans—have berthed at the refinery to load 10,000 metric tonnes, 44,000 metric tonnes, and 44,000 metric tonnes of jet fuel, respectively, for export to the global market.

With robust domestic refining and export activity, Dangote Refinery is reinforcing its position as a key player in the African energy landscape, committed to economic transformation and national service.
