Dangote Refinery Cuts Petrol Price

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has slashed the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, by N30 — from N850 to N820 per litre — effective August 12, 2025.

In a statement on Tuesday, the company’s spokesman, Anthony Chijiena, said the price cut reflects the refinery’s “unwavering commitment to national development” and its goal to ensure a steady supply of petroleum products across the country.

“In line with our dedication to operational excellence and sustainable energy solutions, Dangote Petroleum Refinery will commence the phased deployment of 4,000 CNG-powered trucks for fuel distribution across Nigeria, effective August 15, 2025,” Chijiena announced.

The 650,000-barrel-per-day facility is also set to kick off direct fuel distribution nationwide, a move expected to push down pump prices in the coming days.

As of Tuesday evening, petrol prices in Abuja ranged between N885 and N970 per litre. Industry watchers anticipate that marketers will soon adjust their pump prices to reflect the refinery’s latest reduction.
