The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, has instructed its members to boycott a press conference planned by former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, on completion of his tour of the state.
In continuation of his tour of the South-South, the former Minister of Aviation arrived Uyo, the state capital where he was received by Governor Udom Emmanuel.
The state chapter of the NUJ however circulated a statement to all its quarters on Friday, mandating its members no to attend or identify with any of Fani-Kayode’s planned activities in any part of the state and dissociating itself from his visit.
The statement which was signed by its chairman, Emos Etuk, and Secretary, Dominic Akpan, affirmed that the directive is in line with the disposition of the national leadership of the union.
This is coming days after Fani-Kayode insulted a journalist, Eyo Charles for asking him what he termed a “stupid question” at a press conference after his tour of Cross River state.
The former Aviation Minister came under heavy criticisms for his comments which went viral in a video circulated online.
He has however apologized for his insulting comments against the journalist.
