President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, held a closed-door meeting with the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (retd.), and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
This is as the nationwide #EndSARS protest against police brutality especially the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, a unit of the Nigerian Police Force, continues.
Although as at the time of filing this report, the meeting’s agenda was not made public and the Presidency has yet to issue a statement on the meeting.
However, sources within the State House hinted that it may not be unconnected to the escalating violence trailing the #EndSARS protests.
What started as a genuine protest has turned violent and being infiltrated by hoodlums leaving many dead and property worth millions of naira destroyed in Abuja and some states, leading to the declaration of curfew in Edo and Lagos States.
