Senator Abubakar Kyari, Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress, has taken over the party’s National Working Committee, NWC.
Kyari’s takeover confirms Senator Abdullahi Adamu’s resignation as APC National Chairman over the weekend. Senator Iyiola Omisore, the party’s National Secretary, was said to have accepted Adamu’s resignation.
However, at around 10:40 a.m. on Monday, the Deputy National Chairman convened a meeting in his office with a team of seven additional NWC members. Kyari’s automobile was discovered parked in the spot intended for the National Chairman.
Omisore arrived at the secretariat at about 11:20 a.m. and joined the others in the meeting.
Nze Duru, the Deputy National Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), confirmed the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, on Monday. Duru revealed on Monday, while meeting with reporters in his office, that the Deputy National Chairman, North, Abubakar Kyari, will take over as interim national chairman by the party’s constitution.
He remarked, “One can confirm, yes, credible information that the chairman of the party has stepped down as chairman of the party, and meetings are currently ongoing.”
Meanwhile, members of the NWC have gathered at the party’s national office ahead of the scheduled NWC meeting.
