Court adjourns hearing of suit seeking to restrain Senator Yayi from representing Ogun West till July 13

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in the 2027 general elections.

Adeola spoke in Abeokuta during an interfaith prayer and praise concert organised by the Ogun State APC to seek divine intervention and pray for the success of the party and its candidates ahead of the elections.

The senator, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District, expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would secure another term in office, while also seeking divine support for his ambition to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun as the next governor of Ogun State.

Adeola said the prayers would contribute to the party’s success at the various levels of the 2027 elections, expressing confidence that God was already paving the way for the APC ahead of the presidential and governorship polls.

He further claimed that political opponents were struggling to mount a challenge against the APC, saying the party would record victory without a serious contest.

“That same God that will give us victory on January 16 will also support me to become the seventeenth Executive Governor of Ogun State,” Adeola said.

“God will give us victory and clear our path without a fight. Because there will be nobody contesting against us. God has started that already.”

Governor Dapo Abiodun, who also attended the gathering, described the event as an opportunity for APC members to seek God’s guidance and commit their political journey ahead of 2027 into His hands.

Abiodun recalled the challenges surrounding his emergence as governor in 2019, saying his political journey was ultimately shaped by what he described as divine intervention.

He expressed confidence that the same intervention would guide Ogun State through another transition from his administration to the next government.

Earlier, the Regional Evangelist of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Johnson Kalejaiye, prayed for divine intervention ahead of the 2027 elections and called for peace throughout the political process.

Kalejaiye also urged political parties and their supporters to avoid hate speech and campaigns of calumny that could trigger violence.

The event was attended by Muslim and Christian clerics, former Ogun State Governor Chief Olusegun Osoba, Minister of Livestock Development Idi Mukhtar Maiha, Chief Yemisi Sanusi, Ogun State APC Chairman and Senator Lekan Mustapha, among other party leaders and supporters.
