Former lawmaker and Senator, Shehu Sani, has described Nigeria as a resilient nation that has continued to overcome its challenges despite years of crises and difficulties.
Sani made this known in a post on his X account on Thursday, October 1, while commemorating Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
The former senator acknowledged that the country may not have lived up to the expectations of many Nigerians and those who believed in its potential. However, he noted that Nigeria had continued to defy predictions of failure and pessimism about its future.
According to him, while some nations have failed to survive the challenges they encountered, Nigeria has endured different phases of political, economic and social turbulence.
He described the country as a nation with a history of overcoming obstacles and prevailing against difficult circumstances.
“No nation exists without challenges. Some nations couldn’t survive their challenges. Ours has survived the phases of its storms and turbulence. A nation with a history of overcoming its obstacles and prevailing against all odds,” Sani wrote.
He added that although Nigeria might have disappointed some of its supporters, it had equally continued to disappoint those who predicted its collapse.
“Our country may not have met the expectations of those who wished her well or believed in her, but it also continuously disappoints the pessimistic predictions of the prophets of doom.
“Nigeria, a resilient nation with nine lives,” he added, while wishing Nigerians a happy 66th Independence Anniversary.
