Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has thanked God for being left off a list of All Progressives Congress (APC) governors that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike accused of working against him amid the ongoing dispute over the Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sule made the remarks Tuesday during an interview on TVC, addressing the political rift between Wike and some APC governors that has dominated headlines in recent days.
Wike had on Monday named three APC governors he accused of opposing him: Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Reacting to the development, Sule said he felt relieved not to be named among them. “Thank God I’m not on that list. I feel relieved that I’m not on Wike’s list of APC governors fighting the Rainbow Coalition,” he said.
The Nasarawa governor also defended Wike’s position within the current political arrangement, noting that the minister’s support for President Bola Tinubu does not require him to abandon his own party affiliation.
“Wike is one of the ministers in this administration, and if he says he wants to support President Tinubu from another party, remember he’s not an APC member,” Sule said.
He added that the broader message from the Governors’ Forum on the matter appeared to have been misconstrued. “What’s the whole essence of an alliance? I think the Governors’ Forum message was misunderstood,” he said.
