Tinubu Promises Review of Tariffs After Media Leaders Raise Concerns

0

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured media leaders that the Federal Government will review concerns surrounding tariffs affecting the media industry.

The president gave the assurance during an interfaith Iftar with media executives at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, where discussions centred on the impact of tariffs on media operations.

Addressing the gathering, Tinubu said he had carefully listened to the concerns raised by media stakeholders and acknowledged the importance of resolving the issue.

“I’ve listened carefully to you. It’s as if you’ve worked with me today. The question of tariff was discussed this afternoon,” the president said.

He added that while he could not immediately confirm whether action had already been taken on the matter, he would ensure it is addressed if it had been overlooked.

“What I cannot report back here is whether I took action in the area that affected you or not, but if I miss that, I’ll go back to rectify it,” he said.

Tinubu also commended media organisations for their role in national development, noting that the industry not only informs and educates the public but also creates employment opportunities.

“The joy is that many of you have employed people to live a life and inform people to get information, educate and strengthen our minds,” the president added.
