JUST IN: FCT High Court Judge Withdraws from Nasir El-Rufai’s Fundamental Rights Case

0

Justice Hussaini Belgore of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has withdrawn from presiding over former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s fundamental human rights enforcement suit, citing impending leave.

The case file has now been returned to the Chief Judge of the FCT High Court for reassignment to another judge, temporarily putting proceedings on hold.

El-Rufai’s suit challenges alleged violations of his fundamental rights, citing actions by agencies including the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The former governor also highlighted the invasion of his Abuja residence and the involvement of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) in ongoing legal matters against him.

With the reassignment pending, the timeline for resumption of the case remains uncertain.
