The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on voters in Anambra State to resist the temptation of vote buying and other electoral inducements ahead of the November governorship election.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Thursday, the electoral body urged citizens to reject monetary or material offers from politicians, warning that such practices erode democratic values and hinder genuine development.
“Reject stomach infrastructure. Demand real development. Say NO to vote buying,” INEC declared, reaffirming its commitment to conducting a free, fair, and credible election in the state.
The Commission also appealed to political parties and their candidates to conduct issue-based campaigns, focusing on policies and programmes that can improve the welfare of the people rather than exploiting the economic challenges of the electorate for political advantage.
