Kwankwaso Dismisses Rift Rumours, Says Governor Abba Yusuf Still Enjoys Full Support

Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has debunked reports of a rift between him and the Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa, Kwankwaso dismissed the claims as fabrications by political mischief-makers bent on sowing discord within the Kwankwasiyya movement.

He explained that Governor Yusuf was chosen based on merit, loyalty, and proven commitment to the ideals of the movement, adding that their relationship remains cordial and focused on delivering good governance to the people of Kano State.

“There is no problem between me and Governor Abba. We gave him the opportunity to perform, and he is doing his best. It is just that some mischievous individuals are trying to create division where there is none,” Kwankwaso stated.

He further noted that Yusuf’s selection as candidate was not a coincidence but a deliberate choice made as far back as 2019 after careful consideration.

“We carefully examined the options and found him most qualified. We gave him the chance to deliver, and we continue to support him,” he said.

Kwankwaso also dismissed insinuations that he controls contracts or interferes with the running of the state government, describing such claims as politically motivated.

“Those claiming that I control contracts or run the government are only being mischievous. In due time, the truth will come out,” he added.
