In its ruling on Thursday, the Supreme Court rejected the appeal that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar had filed, citing it as being without substance.
Justice Inyang Okoro said, “On the whole, having resolved all the issues against the appellant, it is my view that there is no merit in the appeal, and it is hereby dismissed.
“The judgment of the court below delivered on September 6, 2023, affirming the election of the second respondent as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is hereby affirmed.”
In an attempt to overturn the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal’s (PEPT) ruling upholding Tinubu’s election as president, Atiku had earlier filed a lawsuit.
