JUST IN: Umo Eno Dumps PDP, Joins APC

In a major political shift, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection was formally announced on Friday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, marking a significant realignment in the state’s political landscape.

Governor Eno’s move comes just days after he hinted at his intention during a town hall meeting in Ikot Abasi, declaring, “It is time to move,” and stressing the need to align Akwa Ibom with the APC-led federal government. He added that the decision followed “extensive consultations” with stakeholders within and outside the state.

In a show of solidarity, several APC governors stormed Uyo to welcome Eno into the party. The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma.

Other notable governors in attendance included Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), and Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi).

The defection of Governor Eno, a sitting PDP governor, is seen as a strategic win for the APC as the 2027 general elections draw closer.
